GRAYSCALE LIVE!! | MOTORCO MUSIC HALL

Grayscale is a band that we at f28 have been wanting to cover for many years.  The band’s music leaves an indelible mark due in part to the great lyrical writing of the band and lead singer Collin Walsh.  The band formed in 2011 in Philadelphia and have created great songs such as, “Forever Yours”, “In Violet”, “Baby Blue”, “Live Again” and many others.  For a band that has been around for a little over a decade they have made an incredible impact in music.  They have released three albums, “Adornment (2017)”, “Nella Vita (2019)” and “Umbra (2021).  They released those records when they were signed to Fearless Records from 2017 to 2023.  The band is currently working on new music and will be releasing a new album soon.  They even played on of their new songs during their performance it was a killer song!

Let’s talk about the show!

Grayscale performed at the Motorco Music Hall in Durham NC while on tour with Smallpools.  The venue was packed with fans patiently waiting for Grayscale to hit the stage.  Since this is a smaller venue fans have a more intimate interaction with the band.   When the lights went dark and the band walked on stage the place lit up with fans jumping and screaming.  The band went into their first song and the energy was palpable.  Lead singer Collin Walsh was full of energy and passion has he walked around the small stage while belting out each song.  The fans would sing along with each song and even take over signing duties on certain parts of a song.  It was also a show where I saw almost no cell phones being held up to record the show.  I saw mostly fans just embracing the music and the band without putting a screen between them.  You had fans taking pictures and small clips but nothing that was extreme like you see during other shows.  The band sounded great, I even found myself not taking images because I just listening and enjoying some of my favorite songs.  For me, this show was one of the best of the year.  The band was on point, on key and full of energy and excitement.   I would recommend anyone to see them perform live and just to listen to their music.  For me, they are one of the best bands out there today.
